Privacy Policy
This privacy policy describes how Slight Future (slightfuture.com) handles visitor data. The short version: the site collects as little as technically possible, does not run third-party analytics or advertising scripts, does not set tracking cookies, and does not integrate with social media platforms. The longer version follows, because a privacy policy that only says "we respect your privacy" is not a privacy policy — it is a marketing statement.
This policy applies to all pages served under slightfuture.com and www.slightfuture.com. It was last reviewed in March 2026 and is updated when practices change.
Hosting infrastructure
Slight Future is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. This means that when you request a page from the site, your request passes through Cloudflare's network before reaching the static content. Cloudflare operates as a content delivery network and provides DDoS protection, TLS termination, and edge caching.
As a consequence of this architecture, Cloudflare processes certain data about your visit as part of normal HTTP request handling. This includes your IP address, the requested URL, the referring page (if any), your browser's user agent string, and standard HTTP headers. This processing happens at the network layer and is governed by Cloudflare's own privacy policy and data processing agreements.
The site operator (Slight Future) has access to aggregated analytics provided by Cloudflare's built-in Web Analytics, which is privacy-focused by design. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use client-side JavaScript tracking, does not set cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not track individual users across pages or sessions. It provides aggregate metrics — total page views, top pages, top referrers, and similar summaries — without individual visitor profiles.
No additional analytics platform is installed. There is no Google Analytics, no Matomo, no Plausible, no Fathom, and no custom tracking script. If you inspect the page source and network requests, you will find no third-party analytics beacons.
Cookies
Slight Future does not set tracking cookies. The site does not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, social media cookies, or preference cookies.
The only cookies that may appear in your browser when visiting the site are those set by Cloudflare as part of its security and performance infrastructure. Cloudflare may set a small number of strictly functional cookies related to bot detection and DDoS mitigation (such as __cf_bm or similar). These cookies are classified as strictly necessary for the delivery of the service and do not track you across websites. They are set by Cloudflare, not by the site's own code, and the site operator has no access to their contents.
No consent banner is displayed because no consent-requiring cookies are set. If this changes in the future — if, for example, a feature is added that requires a preference cookie — this policy will be updated and appropriate consent mechanisms will be implemented before the change goes live.
Third-party resources
All assets served by Slight Future — HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, and fonts — are self-hosted on the same domain. The site does not load resources from Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts, external CDNs, or any third-party JavaScript hosting service.
This means that visiting a page on slightfuture.com does not trigger requests to domains other than slightfuture.com (and Cloudflare's infrastructure serving that domain). There are no invisible pixels, no externally hosted widget scripts, and no embedded content from social media platforms.
A small number of pages contain outbound links to external websites. Clicking those links takes you to a different site with its own privacy practices. The existence of a link does not imply any data sharing between Slight Future and the linked site.
Social media integration
There are none. No Facebook Like buttons, no Twitter share widgets, no LinkedIn tracking pixels, no social login, and no embedded social media posts. Social media integrations are among the most significant sources of cross-site tracking on the modern web, and their absence here is deliberate.
The site does not maintain official accounts on any social media platform. There is no mechanism by which your visit to slightfuture.com is reported to a social media company.
Data collection through contact
If you send an email to hello@slightfuture.com, the content of that email and your email address are retained for the purpose of reading and responding to your message. Email correspondence is not shared with third parties, not used for marketing, and not published without explicit permission.
If a correction you send leads to a page update, the changelog may note that a reader reported the issue. No identifying information is included unless you specifically request credit.
Email is handled through standard email infrastructure. Messages are stored on mail servers that the site operator controls or has a data processing agreement with. There is no CRM, no mailing list, and no automated email processing.
Server logs
Cloudflare processes server access logs as part of its hosting infrastructure. These logs contain standard HTTP request information: IP addresses, timestamps, requested URLs, HTTP status codes, user agent strings, and referrer headers.
The site operator has access to limited log data through Cloudflare's dashboard, primarily for debugging and security purposes. This data is used to identify broken links, detect unusual traffic patterns, and diagnose serving errors. It is not used to build visitor profiles or track individual browsing behaviour.
Access log retention is governed by Cloudflare's data retention policies. The site operator does not maintain a separate long-term log archive.
Data shared with third parties
Slight Future does not sell, rent, or share visitor data with third parties for marketing, advertising, or profiling purposes. The only third party that processes visitor data as a consequence of the hosting arrangement is Cloudflare, as described above.
There are no advertising networks, no data brokers, no affiliate tracking systems, and no audience segmentation tools installed on the site.
Children's privacy
The site is a technical reference aimed at professional and experienced hobbyist audiences. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 16. The site does not include account registration, user profiles, or any interactive features that would collect personal data from visitors of any age.
Data subject rights
If you have sent an email to hello@slightfuture.com and wish to have that correspondence deleted, send a request to the same address and it will be honoured. Since the site does not collect personal data through cookies, tracking, or account systems, there is no visitor profile to access, correct, or delete.
If you believe Cloudflare is processing your data in a way that concerns you, Cloudflare's privacy policy and data protection officer can be reached through their published contact details.
Security measures
The site is served exclusively over HTTPS. HTTP requests are redirected to HTTPS before any content is delivered. TLS certificates are managed by Cloudflare and are automatically renewed.
All content is static — there is no database, no server-side application code processing user input, and no authenticated user sessions. This architecture inherently reduces the attack surface compared to dynamic web applications.
Content integrity is maintained through Cloudflare Pages' deployment pipeline. Each deployment is built from source and deployed as an immutable set of static files.
Changes to this policy
When this policy is updated, the revision date at the top of the page is changed and a note is added to the changelog. Material changes — such as the introduction of new data collection mechanisms — are described explicitly rather than buried in revised language.
The site does not send notifications of policy changes because it does not have your contact information (unless you have emailed the site directly). Checking this page periodically is the only way to stay informed of updates.
Scope and jurisdiction
This policy covers slightfuture.com and www.slightfuture.com. It does not cover any external site that slightfuture.com links to. Each external site has its own privacy practices, and following an outbound link from this site means you are subject to that destination's policies.
The site is operated independently and is not part of a larger corporate entity. Questions or concerns about privacy practices can be directed to hello@slightfuture.com.
